Staying near Ironbridge Gorge

The gorge

Ironbridge Gorge is often called the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and it has been a World Heritage Site since 1986. The Iron Bridge itself, the first in the world, went up over the River Severn in 1779. English Heritage looks after it, and it's free to walk across at any reasonable time in daylight.

The museums along the gorge include Blists Hill Victorian Town, the Museum of Iron at Coalbrookdale and the Jackfield Tile Museum. The National Trust took them over in 2026 and is reopening them in stages, and some need booking ahead, so check the National Trust's Ironbridge Gorge page before you go.

Getting there from the park

The Iron Bridge

About 11 miles, under 30 minutes by car: up the A442 to Bridgnorth, then along the B4373 through Broseley.

Blists Hill Victorian Town

About 11 miles, under 30 minutes by car, on the hillside at the eastern end of the gorge.

Jackfield Tile Museum

About 11 miles, under 30 minutes by car, on the south bank a little downstream of the bridge.

Coalbrookdale

About 13 miles, half an hour by car. The Museum of Iron is here, just north of the bridge.

By bus

Take the 297 Bus from the stop by the park into Bridgnorth, then Arriva's number 8 from High Town, which runs through Broseley to Ironbridge. Check the times before you set off.

Making a day of it

The gorge fills a whole day. Blists Hill is a good start, then head down to the river to walk across the bridge and find lunch in Ironbridge itself. Bridgnorth is on your way back, and the Severn Valley Railway makes another day out from the same pitch.

Each of our five pitches is level gravel hardstanding with a 16-amp hook-up and fresh water, £25 a night whatever the season, with no minimum stay. Fishing on our nine platforms is included, and dogs are welcome and stay free. See which nights are free.
